Dear Keith & Family, You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. It seems we have become a rather close HS family over the past year, so the loss of your brother-in-law, Dennis has hit home to us all. If there is anything we can do...I know yo...

DrWAVeSport,
I'm writing you, since you were good about taking up the fight on redefining zones....

Here's another issue, that has come up in some of the discussions on this site... Why is a drilling company allowed to form a 640-acre unit, when all that they intend to drill for the near-term might be a single vertical well. Surely that vertical well will not drain all the 640 acres. Something does not seem right to me. I would think that if the company wants to hold 640 acres, they ought to be drilling wells that drain all 640 acres.

To whom in the Louisiana DNR did you write with your issue? I'd like to pursue this with them.

Thanks. msfva

Profile Information

Summarize the last encounter you had with a landman/or landowner.
My most recent up-close-and-personal viewing of a landman (this go around with O&G) was at a meeting of landowners. The landman decided to talk and discredit the O&G attorney, who had been invited to speak. The landman would not give his name or company affiliation. He continued to belittle landowners who he believed were holding back on signing leases. He was eventually asked to leave and he refused. I do not understand this type of behavior. He came to this meeting of his own free will as did everyone else. And, the landman was the only individual who showed condemnation and negativity in his comments to this group. Not very good PR in my estimation, for him or the companies he may be representing. By word of mouth alone, I am sure, those who attended this meeting spread the word to others their impressions of this landman and his rough sarcastic demeanor. Not a good thing if you are trying to not only sign up leasees, but sign them up at the lowest cost possible. ???? Not the way I would be doing business. Are you going to be friend or foe with these landowners?

Subject Forced Pooling per Haynesville Shale Play
Question I have read so much per forced pooling. I Live in Shreveport, LA...Approx. 90% of recent legal notices (6/17 thru 7/8) per LA Office of Conservation where O&Gs file applications, contain clauses of "force pooling" & "integrating of all separatly owned tracts, mineral leases, and other property interests...with each tract sharing in unit production on a surface acreage basis of partic… Continue
